The Goddess Card For All of Us
Last night, my daughter asked if I wanted to pull a card from a goddess deck I bought for her years ago.
I said yes.
She fanned out the cards and held them in front of me, face down. Tugging from the middle of the deck, I made my selection.
I pulled Isis — Egyptian goddess of magic, fertility, motherhood, and healing. Her power is strength. The card read: "Goddess of magic, Isis gives you the strength to overcome. She makes miracles happen, so take advantage of all that incredible power behind you right now."
I sat with that for a minute. Because that morning, I had written about miracles in my journal. I thought the card was for me.
But I quickly realized it was also for you.
Because just before I pulled the card, I had posted a poll asking my community how they were doing. And 75% of you said you were holding on.
Holding. On.
And I felt that in my whole body — because I know what that holding on looks like. It looks like making lunches while running on four hours of sleep. It looks like holding the emotional weight of your entire household while trying to remember who you are underneath all of it. It looks like doing the most and still feeling like so much is out of your control.
This is a genuinely hard season to be a mom. World events. The daily news feed. The rising cost of everything. It’s a lot. Moms aren’t struggling because we’re weak. The ground just keeps shifting.
And here's what the goddess card wants us to remember: the strength needed to weather this storm is already in you. It's not something you have to manufacture or white-knuckle your way into. It's yours. It's been yours. And you get to call it back when you want to.
This week, with a new moon in Aries — the most fiery, initiating energy of the whole zodiac — there is an open invitation to set a single, quiet intention:
I am calling my energy back.
Not all at once. Not perfectly. Just the declaration that your energy belongs to you. That you get to reclaim it. That you are allowed to be replenished.
Let that be the whole job this week. Or this season. Just that one thing.
You don't have to do more. Or be more. Just remember how powerful you already are.
I'm not suggesting a goddess card can fix the world we're living in. I know it can't. But if it helps you pause for one moment and remember that the strength is already yours — that you have access to something ancient and powerful and entirely your own — that's worth something. That's actually worth a lot.
And if you’re curious about working together through this season, I created Whole Mother just for this.
xo.
